Vandal Squad Panel Discussion

PowerHouse Books is hosting a panel discussion regarding the new book Vandal Squad: Inside the New York City Transit Police Department, 1984-2004 by Joseph Rivera.

The book has caused much discussion claiming the author is “s profiting off the very criminals he spent his career incarcerating.”

“Panelists include Vandal Squad author Joseph Rivera, former Commanding Officer Lieutenant Steven Mona, original Vandal Squad Lieutenant Ken Chiulli, graffiti legend COPE2, graffiti activist Ket, and street artist ELLIS G. The event will be moderated by Stern Rockwell, Streets Are Saying Things. “

31 typefaces in 31 days

omnistroke

An interesting project by Fwis, whose work I thoroughly enjoy.

“Type.fwis.com is a playground for typographic experiments by Fwis (and friends). We will try and post a new typeface every day for free for the month of January, 2009.”

Original Typophile post here. Type.fwis site here.

Helvetica on PBS

helvetica

PBS launched a nice mini-site to coincide with the premiere of Gary Hustwit’s film Helvetica. Visit the site here. Also, take the test to see which font you are, my results listed me as being Helvetica. Take the test here.

Polaroid PoGo

pogo

With traditional Polaroid film slowly becoming extinct the Polaroid PoGo looks promising. The device “is a pocket-sized, inkless digital printer that produces full-color photos wirelessly from cell phones and via PictBridge from digital cameras.”

More information on PoGo can be found here.

I need to find this, Alan Zweig’s documentary, Vinyl.
