I had fallen behind on maintaining the NADE blog so I decided to post several links in one post. I am still playing with the idea of doing larger weekly posts with fewer daily posts, we’ll see how it works out, till then enjoy the below.
NYT’s review of Vandal Squad event at PowerHouse Arena on Thursday.

Having just finished reading The Laws Of Simplicity and picking up Maeda at Media it was great to stumble across (thanks to swissmiss) the above video of John Maeda at the TED Conference.
Visit the The Laws Of Simplicity site to view all the laws.
Some excerpts from The Laws Of Simplicity book:
“”What program do you use?” is a question I often get about the slides I use to present my work. I have concluded that the proper answer to the question is to counter-suggest the asking of a different question, “What principle do you use?”"
“We all want to “wow” people from the beginning with the newest bells and whistles in an amazing new product, but sometimes “wow” can become “woah” and you need an aspirin to cope with the anxiety of the overwhelming aspects of the new.”
“The best designers marry function with form to create intuitive experiences that we understand immediately…”
“Good design relies to some extent on the ability to instill a sense of instant familiarity.”
“The opportunity lost by increasing the amount of blank space is gained back with enhanced attention of what remains”
“While great art makes you wonder, great design makes things clear.”
“Complexity and simplicity are two symbiotic qualities.”
“With an open system, the power of many can outweigh the power of the few.”
“…technology is an exhilarating enabler, it can be an exasperating disabler as well.”
“Life may be complex, but in the end, life is simple…”
