I remember first hearing about Emigre, both the magazine and type foundry, in my Typography 1 class in the Spring of 2003. Little did I know at the time what a huge impact the magazine would have on me and my thoughts on graphic design.
It comes as no surprise how happy I was to read that Emigre would be posting select interviews and essays from past issues as back issues sell out, even more that the content from Emigre #30 was available. Over the past few months I have been interested in the “legibility wars” debate and design in the 90s, how technology and access to that technology changed the face of design. I am still formulating my opinion on this so I digress from making a statement now.
As exciting as it is to see Emigre posting the content from their magazine I am let down that it is not being shown in the form it was first presented. As shown here instead of here. Hopefully, Emigre will make PDF editions of their magazine available for a small fee or allow one to browse more images of the magazine that had a timeless impact on the graphic design community.
